What irritates the hell out of me today...

All this hoopla following Whitney Houston’s death. The blame placed on Bobby Brown. If I see one more post on FB talking about how BB is the devil and it is because of him that WH was a crack head and dead at 47, I am going to flip shit.
Let me point out a few things I find obvious. First off, she was a grown ass woman. Responsible for making her own choices. Was BB a bad influence? Possibly. However, that being said, let me repeat, she was grown. She chose to succumb to the influence of those around her instead of being the leader she was. She had a great talent and she squandered it. For that you should be cursing her and not who she chose to marry.
Understand that death is sad. All death. I hope her family deals with it well. But as far as her dying. I don’t care. She wan’t my friend. I never met her. She never had any bearing on any decision I made in my life. Those are the people that I lose sleep over when they die.
This goes for all celebrities. Amy Weinhouse, Heavy D, Ryan Dunn. I just don’t care.
What I do care about is how all of the celebrities are doted on in death. Article on top of article. Awards, tributes, etc. It is bullshit. How many soldiers died yesterday? Do you know their names? What about their families left behind? Does that even register....it sure doesn’t seem like it. You are lucky if you catch the news once a week stating at this point we have lost whatever the count is this week. But I have yet to hear them named. I’m sure if you search you may be able to find a site. But I don’t hear them celebrated or have tributes made out to them. Like I said, bullshit.
If this pisses you off too bad. Once again, so you aren’t butt hurt, I do feel bad for WH’s family. Death is sad. But do I care? No. Am I sad? No.
What it teaches me is that you never know when you will lose someone you love. So love them like everyday is your last day with them. Make them feel special, and important, make sure they know you care.
Peace out biatches! Hug someone you love today! And don't forget to check us on FB Citybia.

  1. I heard that! Especially in the case of Whitney, Ryan Dunn, and Amy. They were all their faults. It wasn't like they died of natural causes. They chose the life they lived and they knew the consequences of their actions. R.I.P. tho. It's my prerogative.

    1. That is a very good point D, about it being because of choices that they made that they died. And yet society goes on and on like they were heros. Just silly! But is is your prerogative :)

  3. I suffer from hype aversion. It is sad that she died. But do I need to know her funeral arrangements? who is attending? what they are wearing? Umm hell no! I wish ppl would JUST STOP.

I popped in from Yeah Write.

    1. Thanks for popping in Robbie! I agree it would be nice if people would shut up about it. However I think it is too much to ask...siiigh!

  4. Amen.

Nobody - NOBODY forced anything on Whitney. Or Ryan. Or Amy. Or the teenagers whose names adorn the backs of cars with the date of birth and date of death after they died when they were drinking and driving.

Sorry for the family. NOT for the dead.

    1. That is a great statement Kim, sorry for the family, not the dead. That is exactly how I feel. And still it is all over the news. Just a waste of time. Thanks for reading!

  5. Thing that struck me about all of this was that no one cared about WH the day before she died. If you had interviewed any of those people that were gushing over her at the Grammys, the DAY BEFORE SHE DIED, their replies would not have been so flattering.

There should be an award show for the real heroes, our military. -Ellen

    1. I couldn't agree more Ellen, There should be an award show for the military! And I definitely agree if people would have been asked about her a minute before her death they would not have been so kind.

  6. Uh-oh, don't read my Yeah Write post! (-:
    It's about Whitney's daughter Bobbi K.
I so agree w. you about everybody blaming Bobby - he makes a good scapegoat, but she was a grown woman who had choices and made very bad ones that eventually cost her her life, and for that I don't blame Bobbi.
PS: Don't read my post! It will probably irritate you. (-:

    1. Ado, I did read your blog - because you told me not to :) Your post was sweet and a bit irritating. However, I can totally empathize with you, as my egg donor was an alcoholic and a drug addict, not to mention I had 4 step-fathers in 15 years. I can also see how you can relate to BK. I think what irritates me is that there are so many good people, self sacrificing people who die every day that we never hear about. People who were special to someone. Soldiers who gave their lives so we can sit and watch tributes to stupid people who make ridiculous amounts of money to entertain. And it goes on for days and days. Your post was sweet and I understand :) Thank you for visiting my blog! You probably don't want to visit my FB page and see what I typed about BK this morning :/

    2. It's a good practice to read Ado's post not only because she told you not to, but to absorb another point of view. It helps us to be well-rounded and less irritated at others' experiences. Not to mention there are several posts linked up each week with yours on yeah write and that's what we do: visit each others posts. The traffic should go both ways.

  7. That's a very good point - that there are regular people who die every day but not of alcoholism or addiction. I think though that the reason the alcoholics/addicts get this kind of attention (supertardom aside) is because they are tormented by their diseases, and since they have a choice - and turn their backs on sobriety or health - the general public is fascinated with that. I'm not saying it's right - just kind of offering an explanation for why it gets so much attention.

  9. Well, I think it's because it's news, and the media love this sort of stuff. And people like to jump on the bandwagon. And some people somewhat baffling to me, REALLY loved Whitney.

As with all celebrity news, this too, will die down. Pun intended.

    1. You are right Allison. There are a lot of bandwagon jumpers. I think too, that people also love to see others fail. That way they can say their "I told you so's" and offer up their ideas of what would have made things better. It is just sad really. Thank you for your input and reading!
